Dark Flash Fiction: Their Day

This little piece of dark flash fiction is inspired by some true life events of some friends getting married soon. I decided to make it more dark and yet humorous, I hope. Thanks for reading and enjoy!

It vexed me to no end watching him walk down the aisle. The nagging feeling that he would screw this all up again made me look as though I drunk sour milk to my wife, who shook her head and frowned. She folded her arms and glanced over her shoulder, offering a sweet wave to the bride waiting in the wings. “Why can’t you be happy for him, Mitch?”
“Nothing would please me more than knowing he won’t mess this one up like the last time.”
“She wasn’t ready to be sacrificed, you shouldn’t hold it against her if she doesn’t see the glory of our dark god. Besides, this is their day. I think you should let this new candidate have the moment without you ruining it with your bitter ghosts. Now smile, she’s about ready to walk.”
