Even though it was the miracle of life, she turned her head away from the grisly sight and swallowed the bile forming in her mouth. She squeezed her eyes tight and hoped the sound of flesh tearing would fade into the distance, but the mother’s screams rocked her fragile world and brought her back to her silent torment.
The woman turned in time to see the head crowning. Her head drifted down as the world spun under her knees. She fell backward and hit the chair hard, shattering it into pieces.
“You are a terrible midwife, sis. Get my hubby!”
