Fantasy Flash Fiction: Water Caster (Preternatural)

Another installment in the Fantasy Flash Fiction series Water Caster, this time touching on another interesting creature on the path to greatness. This was originally written for Tuesday Tales.

The feral creature crouched as she leaned against the tree trunk, her glowing amber eyes watched the cloaked woman walk under her. She wiped the blood from her mouth and sniffed the air. Saliva mixed with the remaining gore as it dripped from the canopy. The cloaked woman stopped and lifted her head. “Preternatural creature of the night, you shall return to whence you came.”
“Go screw your eight gods, water caster. I know your secrets. You are worthless if you are not near a body of water.”
The water caster smiled as her fingers danced, “Am I helpless now?”

You had me at “Go screw your eight gods.”
