Dark Flash Ficiton: The Water Caster (Determination)

This is a dark bit of dark fantasy flash fiction series The Water Caster. I wrote this for a Tuesday Tales entry, but I believe it should be shared on here as well. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. Enjoy!

The old woman looked at the shoal, shaking her head as the silver hair spilled from the blue hood covering her face, “A fetid place where no water will flow. I fear for the casters here; they starve for their water. I can sense the Duke’s hand in this manner.”

She closed her eyes and snapped her fingers, causing a geyser to shoot from the tiny body of water. The fountain sprayed the scum-filled liquid across the ground. The wilted flowers around the pond stiffened and bloomed as she smiled. “Drink with determination, little ones. Blood shall feed you soon.”
